The Foundation sponsors pilot testing programs for new innovations and clean energy products. Because social businesses seek to offer quality products for the most affordable price for the rural BoP, their profit margins are very minimal. Without much room for error, risking a disruptive innovation is difficult to justify. The Foundation believes, however, that the right kind of innovations may improve thousands of lives worldwide. We strive to identify new innovations that have the potential for the greatest impact, assess their feasibility, and determine the right partners and markets to bring these products and innovations to fruition.
The map of financial flows below demonstrates how the Foundation works together with ground partners to test new products and innovations in the sector that improve BoP access to safe energy and/or the efficacy of last-mile distribution networks.
